מגדל בבל TOWER OF BABEL
1. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
1 בכל העולם דיברו בשפה אחת.

2. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
2 אנשים שנדדו מהמזרח מצאו בִּקעה בארץ שִׁנְעָר והתיישבו בה. 
4ana5im 5enadedu mehamizrac ma34u biq7ah ba4are3 5in7ar whitya5bu bah.

3. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
3 הם אמרו זה לזה: "בואו נעשה לְבֵנִים ונשרוף אותן".
הם השתמשו בלבנים במקום אבנים, ובזפת במקום חומר*. [*יא 3 חומר – מה שאנחנו מכנים בטעות "חימר"]
Hem 4amru zeh lzeh: "bo4u na7aseh lbenim wnisrof 4otan". Hem hi5tam5u blevenim bimqom 4vanim, wzefet bimqom comer*. [* ya4 3 comer - mah 5e4anacnu m2anim b9a7ut "ceymar"]

4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
4 אחר כך אמרו: "בואו נבנה לנו עיר ומגדל שראשו מגיע לשמים. כך נפרסם את שמנו ולא נתפזר על פני כל הארץ".
4acar ka2 4amru: "bo4u nivneh lanu 7ir umigdal 5ero45o magia7 la5amayim. Ka2 nfarxem 4et 5emnu wlo4 nitpazer 7al pney ha4are3.

5. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
5 ה' ירד לראות את העיר ואת המגדל שבנו בני האדם. 
H' yarad lir4ot 4et ha7ir w4et hamigdal 5ebanu bney ha4adam.

6. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
6 "זו רק תחילת מעשיהם", אמר ה'. "כל עוד כולם בני עם אחד ומדברים שפה אחת, אין דבר שלא יוכלו לעשות. 
"Zo raq tcilat ma7aseyhem", 4amar H'. "Kol 7od kulam bney 7am 4ecad umedabrim safah 4acat, 4eyn davar 5elo4 yu2lu la7asot.

7. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
7 בואו נרד ונבלבל את שפתם כדי שאיש לא יבין את שפת חברו".
Bo4u nered nvalbel 4et safatam kdey 5e4i5 lo4 yavin 4et safat cavero".

8. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
8 ה' פיזר אותם משם על פני כל הארץ והם הפסיקו לבנות את העיר. 
H' pizer 4otam me5am 7al pney kol ha4are3 whem hifxiqu lvanot 4et ha7ir.

9. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
9 העיר נקראה בָּבֶל כי שם בִּלבל אלוהים את שפת כל הארץ. משם פיזר ה' את בני האדם על פני כל הארץ. 
Ha7ir niqre4ah bavel ki 5am bilbel 4elohim 4et safat kol ha4are3. Me5am pizer H' 4et bney ha4adam 7al pney ha4are3.

תולדות שם GENERATIONS OF SHEM
10. These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
שֵׁם
10 אלה תולדות שֵׁם: שנתיים אחרי המבול, כאשר היה שֵׁם בן מאה, הוא הוליד את אַרְפַּכְשַׁד. 
4eleh toldot 5em: 5enatayim 4acarey hamabul, ka4a5er hayah 5em ben me4ah, hu4 holid 4et 4arpa25ad.

11. And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.        
11 אחר כך חי שֵׁם עוד חמש מאות שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay 5em 7od came5 me4ot 5anah, wnoldu lo banim ubanot.

אַרְפַּכְשַׁד ARPHAXAD
12. And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
12 כאשר היה ארפכשד בן שלושים וחמש, הוליד את שֶׁלַח. 
ka4a5er hayah 4arpa25ad ben 5lo5im wcame5, holid 4et 5elac.

13. And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
13 אחר כך חי ארפכשד עוד ארבע מאות ושלוש שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay 4arpa25ad 7od 4arba7 me4ot w5alo5 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

שֶׁלַח SALAH
14. And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
14 כאשר היה שלח בן שלושים, הוליד את עֵבֶר.
Ka4a5er hayah 5elac ben 5lo5im, holid 4et 7ever.

15. And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
15 אחר כך חי שלח עוד ארבע מאות ושלוש שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay 5elac 7od 4arba7 me4ot w5alo5 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

עֵבֶר EBER
16. And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
16 כאשר היה עבר בן שלושים וארבע, הוליד את פֶּלֶג. 
ka4a5er hayah 7ever ben 5lo5im w4arba7, holid 4et peleg.

17. And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
17 אחר כך חי עבר עוד ארבע מאות ושלושים שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.

פֶּלֶג PELEG 
18. And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
18 כאשר היה פלג בן שלושים, הוליד את רְעוּ. 
Ka4a5er hayah peleg ben 5lo5im, holid 4et r7u.

19. And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
19 אחר כך חי פלג עוד מאתיים ותשע שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay peleg 7od ma4tayim wte5a7 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

רְעוּ R7u
20. And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
20 כאשר היה רעו בן שלושים ושתיים הוא הוליד את שְׂרוּג. 
Ka4a5er hayah r7u 5lo5im u5tayim hu4 holid 4et srug.

21. And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.      
21 אחר כך חי רעו עוד מאתיים ושבע שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay r7u 7od ma4tayim w5eva7 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

שְׂרוּג SERUG
22. And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
22 כאשר היה שרוג בן שלושים, הוליד את נָחוֹר.
Ka4a5er hayah srug ben 5lo5im, holid 4et nacor.

23. And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
23 אחר כך חי שרוג עוד מאתיים שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay srug 7od ma4tayim 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

נָחוֹר NAHOR
24. And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
24 כאשר היה נחור בן עשרים ותשע, הוליד את תֶרַח. 
Ka4a5er hayah nacor ben 7esrim wte5a7, holid 4et terac.

25. And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
25 אחר כך חי נחור עוד מאה ותשע עשרה שנה, ונולדו לו עוד בנים ובנות.
4acar ka2 cay nacor 7od me4ah wte5a7 7esreh 5anah, wnoldu lo 7od banim ubanot.

תֶרַח TERAH 
26. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
26 לאחר שהיה תרח בן שבעים, הוליד את אַבְרָם, את נָחוֹר ואת הָרָן.
L4acar 5ehayah terac ben 5iv7im, holid 4et 4avram, 4et nacor w4et haran.

27. Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
27 אלה תולדות תרח: תרח הוליד את אברם, את נחור ואת הרן. הרן הוליד את לוט.
4eleh toldot terac: terac holid 4et 4avram, 4et nacor w4et haran. Haran holid 4et lo9.

28. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
28 הרן מת במולדתו אוּר כַּשְׂדִים כשאביו תרח עדיין חי.
Haran met bmoledeto 4ur kasdim k5e4aviyw terac 7adayin cay.

אַבְרָם נָחוֹר הָרָן לוֹט ABRAM NAHOR HARAN LOT
29. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
29 אברם ונחור לקחו להם נשים. שם אשת אברם שָׂרַי, ושם אשת נחור מִלְכָּה בת הרן אחות יִסְכָּה.
4avram wnacor laqcu lahem na5im. 5em 4e5et 4avram sarat, w5em 4e5et nacor milkah bat haran 4acot yickah.

30. But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
30 שרי הייתה עקרה, לא היו לה ילדים.
Saray haytah 7aqarah, lo4 hayu lah yeladim.

31. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
31 תרח לקח את בנו אברם, את נכדו לוט בן הרן ואת שרי כלתו, אשת בנו אברם, ויחד יצאו מאוּר כַּשׂדים כדי ללכת לארץ כנען. הם הגיעו עד חָרָן והתיישבו שם. 
Terac laqac 4et beno 4avram, 4et ne2edo lo9 ben haran w4et saray kalato, 4e5et beno 4avram, wyacad ya34u me4ur kasdim kdey lale2et ha4are3 kna7an. Hem higi7u 7ad caran whitya5vu 5am.

32. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
32 תרח חי מאתיים וחמש שנה, ומת בחרן.
